After Mirana's appeal to her father to help Marci, he comes to her and tells her not to bother her father with such problems, though he can assist. In Burial of the Dead, he is seen in a flashback discussing troop movements with Shabarra and the former emperor. If she is to do this, she will need his guidance, so she can avoid repeating her father's mistakes. That night, as they look over the city, Mirana admits that she does not know her home and the forces within the Empire anymore. ![]() He states that her father was impatient too. He tells her that Tihomir earned her title and legion by funding the Imperial Army, which, unfortunately, means that Mirana has gained a dangerous enemy. He cautions her against pushing them too fast. In Desolate and Empty the Sea, he accompanies Mirana to a meeting with the War Council, and witnesses Legatus Tihomir's blatant show of disrespect for her. Seeing her the next day, he realises she's decided to accept Shabarra's proposal, on her terms. Mirana refuses to leave without Luna, and declares that she will find another way. He tells her that he can have those loyalists sneak her out of the city if she chooses, though he can't do anything for Luna because she's a public enemy of the Empire. After the Emperor leaves, Kashurra tells her that factions still loyal to her father have been complicating Shabarra's rule, and he hopes to gain legitimacy by marrying Mirana. Later that day, he comes back to her room with Shabarra, and remains in the room with the two of them as Shabarra lays out his plans for the Princess. When she accuses him of helping her uncle, he tells her that his duties are to the Imperium first, as her father wanted. He takes her to her room where she is kept under guard. Kashurra stands in her way, but assures her that she is safe and won't be harmed. When Mirana is brought back to the Imperium, she attempts to make a run for it. Kashurra makes his first appearance in The Lady of Situations. When Shabarra began his coup d'état against Emperor Zal, Kashurra had Asar escort Mirana and Marci out of the palace, saving their lives. When Marci was injured, and after Mirana begged the Emperor to help her, Kashurra had Marci assigned as her personal handmaid, and the ones who assaulted Marci were punished. ![]() Kashurra was shown serving Emperor Zal when Mirana was a child.
