Nintendo has a history of releasing Zelda games across multiple generations, like Twilight Princess for GameCube and Wii, and Breath of the Wild for Wii U and Nintendo Switch. It’s unlikely a Switch 2 will launch alongside BOTW 2, but perhaps that’s when the Switch Pro could make an appearance. Will a Nintendo Switch successor launch alongside BotW 2? “Limiting BOTW 2 to only Switch 2 owners wouldn’t make any business sense.” “Nintendo without a doubt will want to get BOTW 2 on as many Switch consoles as possible,” Jijiashvili tells Inverse. “I’m certain that Nintendo would ensure that BOTW 2 performs well enough for the existing Switch owners to enjoy” George Jijiashvili notes that “We can speculate on this all day,” but the biggest takeaway is that-regardless of what platform the recent BOTW 2 footage was on-Nintendo will release the game for the current Switch model, as well. “I personally believe making a good case here, and I would bet not my life, but a handsome amount of money that the BOTW 2 launch will be accompanied by a new/upgraded Switch next year,” Toto says. Serkan Toto thinks it’s possible the BOTW 2 footage could have been running on more advanced hardware, but that doesn’t mean the game will skip the original Nintendo Switch. It’s impossible to know if the recent BOTW 2 trailer was running on a different platform, but analysts are confident the game will be available for the standard Nintendo Switch system.ĭr. A glimpse at Link’s new abilities in the trailer also seems to show they’ll include some time-manipulation elements.Regardless of whether the recent BOTW 2 footage was running on a more powerful machine, the game will still launch for the original Switch. Fans immediately connected those two pieces of information with the Hyrule shown in the second trailer, where the action with Link in his new duds takes place on floating islands not seen in BOTW. An E3 2021 BOTW 2 trailer shows Link sporting a wild mane of hair and a toga, his right arm resembling the one seen in the reveal. The game’s reveal trailer showed what looks like the corpse of Ganon in a tomb, held in place by a glowing hand that appears to grab Link a moment later. ![]() The idea that time travel will be part of BOTW 2’s plot isn’t a new theory. Breath of the Wild 2 could send Link back in time. It may just be spirits from the past speaking to Link in the present, but there’s a plausible (and far more exciting) second option. Regardless of who this ancestor is, it implies that there’s a look back in time in some form coming in the sequel. The mystery character could be the original pilot of Daruk’s Divine Beast, Rudania, who used the massive machine in the war against Calamity Ganon 10,000 years before BOTW. While the lack of a name means Daruk’s ancestor could be anyone, Lega Hyrule suggests one particularly intriguing possibility. Voice actor Pietro Ubaldi says he’s voicing both Daruk and a mysterious ancestor in Breath of the Wild 2. Ubaldi says he doesn’t remember the ancestor’s name but calls them (through translation) “a bit more serious Daruk.” The Daruk voice actor isn’t just reprising his role from BOTW, he’s also voicing Daruk’s ancestor. Ubaldi reveals that he’s wrapped up his recording sessions for Daruk, letting one other juicy detail slip. Now, one fan may have stumbled upon a major development, courtesy of an Italian voice actor.Īs spotted by ResetEra user Alexander_Wand, Italian Zelda YouTube channel Lega Hyrule recently posted a video including a short clip of voice actor Pietro Ubaldi, who voices the Goron Champion Daruk in BOTW. Of course, that hasn’t stopped fans from poring over every scrap of news to find hints of what we’ll be doing in BOTW 2. ![]() Even the sequel’s actual name is still a secret. Nintendo itself has kept a tight lid on news of the sequel, letting almost nothing slip outside of the few trailers it’s released for the game. ![]() After the recent (and frustratingly vague) Breath of the Wild 2 delay, The Legend of Zelda fans are speculating even more eagerly about what could be in store for Link and Zelda’s next adventure.
